Worry Part 7: The Antidote

25 ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Mat 6:25-26

Whenever we fall into anxiety, we have shifted our trust and faith from God who does not disappoint to something or someone else, and anything apart from God has the ability to let us down and so we worry that that fear could become a reality. When we fix our eyes on what is changing and unpredictable, of course we will be concerned that things will shift not in our favour but in a way that will cause us some sort of lack.

Any time the Bible teaches us to not worry, the antidote always has to do with putting our faith in God. Our challenge is to stay focused on him and to keep our hearts and minds full of the truth. It’s a matter of trust. Trusting in God will keep your life free from worry. There is need to devote yourself to being full of God and His word and to decide to let go of what you hold onto and to rather hold on to Jesus. Pray a prayer of devotion to God and tell him that you choose to look to him and hold onto him. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Pet 5:7)
