The Moment

So Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was quickly brought from the dungeon. When he had shaved and changed his clothes, he came before Pharaoh. Gen 41:14

This is Joseph’s moment! The moment he is pulled from the prison cell and summoned to the palace. This is the moment he’s been waiting for, the chance of a lifetime when he as a Jewish boy tuned slave turned prisoner is summoned by the the king of the land because he is the only one who can help him at that moment. Rewind a little, how did he get here? The baker and the cupbearer who had been imprisoned by Pharaoh had dreams and while in prison together, Joseph interpreted them.

His interpretation to the cupbearer included him being released in three days and restored to his position, “But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness; mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison”. In 3 days that came to pass and horror of horrors, he forgot all about Joseph…FOR TWO YEARS…until Pharaoh had 2 dreams that no-one else could interpret. “Oh ya, there was a guy once”. And then enter Joseph.

Have you ever heard the saying “your gift will make room for you”? Since last week we have been talking about the dream that God has given you and the faithfulness that you will need during the extended time of waiting and training. During that time you need to be serving God in your gift, fanning it to flame as Paul told Timothy. When the time comes, God will use that gift to open doors for you. It would have been tragic if at the time of Pharaoh’s dreams, Joseph was overlooked because he was too bitter and upset to serve God in his God-given gift and he would have been overlooked. Don’t allow that tragedy. Be prepared all the time. Be sure to not miss the moment!
