Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35
Just before this, Jesus had miraculously fed more than 5,000 people and a conversation ensues around the subject of bread. During it, Jesus says to them ‘Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life…’ (v27). He also refers to ‘the bread that gives life to the world’. These guys have seen him perform miracles and have been direct beneficiaries of them. They have also listened to his teaching. The only reasonable conclusion and response to the miracles and the teachings is found in verse 34 where they say , “Sir, always give us this bread”. It’s then that Jesus reveals it to them: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty”.
Regardless of whatever needs, challenges and questions you have today, Jesus is the answer and the only one who can truly satisfy you. Money, sex and power are just never enough; you should have worked that out by now. Come to Jesus today; the promise is, you will never go hungry and you will never be thirsty, because the deepest needs of your heart and life will be satisfied.
