Devoted: Signs and Wonders

Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. Acts 2:43

Through the devotion of the early church, one of the results was signs and wonders that were prevalent during their day and the inevitable awe that filled people’s hearts. When God is on the move, people are amazed because God is amazing and does amazing things. Now this is an interesting dimension for us. Up till now, the things we have looked at is this Devotion series have been things that we can actively do everyday; now with signs and wonders, God can use us to perform them but the actual miracles come from him. We cannot coerce them. I cannot say, as with prayer or breaking of bread, “everyday, at 7:00, I will perform a miracle”. Well I could say it as a proclamation of faith and something I am trusting God for, but only God can determine the fulfilment of that.

So what do we do meanwhile. Firstly realise that our God is still the same God of the Bible and that he still does miracles today. Align your thinking as it were. Secondly pray and ask God for faith. Ask him to do miracles in, with, through and around you. Sing the words of that great song (if you know it): “Is it true today, that when people pray, we’ll see dead men rise, and the blind set free. Yes it’s true! And I believe it! I’m living for You! And I’m gonna be a history maker in this land!” Aim to get to a point where like Wayne Dyer you can wholeheartedly say, “I am realistic – I expect miracles!”
