Then he said to them, ‘Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.’ Luke 12:15
This is such an important verse because we can all so easily fall into the trap that says “money is everything”. We make decisions with regards to what to do, where to live and who to interact with based ultimately on what will result in more money. We tend to see money as this thing that is to be sought after and when you get it to go after more. And yet the Bible is so clear on the warnings about that kind of approach.
If only we would free ourselves from the trap then our days will be more pleasant and our lives will have more meaning and longer lasting impact. In God’s eyes, the quality of your life does not consist in how much you have. God does not evaluate you the same way that the world does, so don’t fall into the trap. When you are faced with a decision, do not let money be forerunner or the deal breaker. No. There are many more factors to consider of more weight and eternal significance. Allow God to help you have the right perspective and the right priorities in life. Ask him to help you get rid of the love of money.
Remember, money is a tool, a slave that God gives us to use for his glory. Read Luke 12:13-21 and allow God to speak to you and give you the right perspective. Ask him for that before you read.
