This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3 v 16

The movie Gladiator remains one of the best movies I have watched. Not only because of the valiance shown by the ‘main actor’ when he fights for freedom and his family but because he believes in his cause so much that he dies for it.

This Scripture shows that Jesus believed in the rescue mission He was sent on by the Father so much that He died for it. We are called to the exact same thing. Are you willing to add this definition of love to that found 1 Cor 13? For wives or husbands, some might. Most parents would for their kids. Would you for your Christian brothers and sisters?

It’s a hard question, but we ought to. Scripture commands it. Won’t you search your heart today for your willingness to die for other disciples in the Father’s family, it will reveal the levels of your love for them.
