Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 1 Corinthians 12 v 12-13
Following on from hearing about the gospel being the great leveler, we look at another text that points to our ‘oneness’. Through our salvation you and I have become a part of Jesus. Though that in itself is a mind boggling concept, we are also baptized in the Holy Spirit and also drink of it. This further underlines how the new life in Christ leads us to a place where we are linked together in totality. Each of us is a part of what makes up the sum.
You and I are no different in Christ’s eyes. How does this affect our collective thinking? We uphold each individual we meet with the same value. Though this may be hard, try it today and ask God to help you hold everyone with the same esteem. The world will never be the same.
