Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times. Mark 4:8
Take time to actually read the entire parable from verse 1 to verse 8 and then on through to verse 20 where Jesus explains the parable to his disciples. I wonder which of the types of ground reflects your heart. Are you the type of person who when you hear the Word of God, it’s as good as though it goes in one ear and out the other because the devil has stolen it from you? Or perhaps your roots are shallow and you hold on to what you receive for a short while and then fall back to your old ways fairly quickly. Or are you too distracted with the things of this world – problems, issues, work, finances, bills, and so on – that it’s like these things choke God’s Word in your life?
I hope none of these describe you. I must admit, I identify with too much of what I have written so far. I am hoping you fall into the “others” category described in verse 20: “Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop – some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”
The Bible teaches us that the correct thing to do with the Word of God is hear it, accept it and do what it says. That way, your life will never be the same and you will produce long-lasting fruit in your life. God help us to be hearers and doers of the Word!
