But godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Tim 6:6
This verse appears in the context of doing what we do (even pursuing godliness) primarily as a means for financial gain. This leads to all sorts of trouble and destructive emotions. The better way to live is with contentment. The correct approach to our work leads to contentment. When we realise that we are where we are because we are called by God, this releases us to give our best and to derive pleasure from what we do.
This is a quote from the movie Chariots of Fire: ” You can praise God by peeling a spud (potato) if you peel it to perfection”. Today, make a decision to praise God as you work so that you derive pleasure, fulfilment and contentment from what you do.
