Give us today our daily bread. Mat 6:11
The first half of the Lord’s prayer has taught us that God comes first and his glory is what we are primary after in everything that we do. The second half teaches to express our total dependence on him. God is very interested in our personal lives and needs. Jesus teaches us to pray and ask God to meet our daily needs. Instead of worrying about our needs, we bring them as requests to him. God teaches us right through the Bible that he knows each of us to the most minute detail, right down to how many hairs we have on our head. That should give us confidence because no matter who we are and how big or small our needs are, God promises us that individual and personal attention. There are no needs too big for him and none too small.
So no matter how well-off you are, there is a Biblical call for you to trust God for your daily needs. You might have plenty, but that should be no reason to stop trusting and having faith in him. Today, are you able to receive with the same measure of confidence that Paul had when he declared over the Philippians: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”? It is true. Let’s believe and let’s make it our daily expression of faith and reliance in God as we ask him day by day to supply us with our daily bread. God is good!
