15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 ‘Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.’

By looking at the Book of Esther this week, we have travelled a journey for faith and as we trust God we need to walk closely with Him being grounded in the Word and led by the Spirit. With the confidence that comes from that we take steps of faith but today’s point is that we still need to take that step. Sometimes, it’s more like a leap, not knowing what we will land on.

We can look at many other examples in the Bible, but when Jesus called Peter to step out of the boat to walk on the water with Him, the point is Peter had to step out of the boat.

I was talking to a friend last night about work and in particular documentation. My conclusion (and confession really) was that I like talking about systems and documentation. I also like designing systems but I don’t really use them. Sadly, it’s a bit the same with our faith – we have all the theory but when the time comes to take the step to act on what we believe, there can sometimes be a block.

My prayer today is that our faith would be like that of Esther who saw that point of no return and understood just how risky expressing her faith is and yet she took the step nonetheless. ‘I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.’ She saw and understood that line, that point of no return where her faith would leave her exposed and vulnerable, and she dared to cross it. She dared to risk it an bare all. Today, will you dare to trust God and to put action to what you believe and say? What is he calling you to do? Go ahead, take that step and know that He is with you – always!
